  • Thank You to Our Workday Volunteers!!

Thanks to the 12 neighbors who worked hard to make our Spring Lake clean-up a success. The bulk of the work was concentrated on the back side of the dam, where brush and small trees were removed. Grass was reduced to about 6 inches. This work saved our association at least $500 compared to a contracted job. See you next time, and stay in touch!

  • Assistance Needed – Secretary/Treasurer

    Hello, Neighbors!

After more than five years of service, our Secretary-Treasurer, Kimberly Scholl, is looking to assist another caring, capable neighbor in taking over her position. Please reach out to any Board member or email info@shattalonlakeestates.org, if you’d like to consider helping in this way. Our member records are in fine order, which should make the transition even easier.

    Here’s what the position entails:

    • Maintaining member records and financial records.
    • Receiving and paying bills for Shattalon Lake, Inc., and receiving and depositing dues.
    • Updating the Board and Members on dues participation and financial accounts (generally at meetings).
    • Maintaining minutes of Board Meetings (typically 3-4 per year) and annual Members Meetings.
    • Providing financial reporting for Newsletters (typically 1 per year).
    • Preparing mail merges for dues letters, postcards, and the sign-in sheet for the annual Members Meeting.
(Again, Kimberly is happy to teach these skills, if needed.)

Thank you in advance for considering this request. By combining our shared talents and abilities, we can keep Shattalon Lake Estates strong!

  • A Challenge We Face

We face an ongoing challenge concerning our Silt Pond that no doubt we will approach in a positive manner. Many of you are aware of the fact that our Silt Pond needs dredging, as has been done periodically over the years, to enhance the quality and health of our 9 acre Lake. This has been discussed in various forums (the last Newsletter and at our last annual members meeting).  Quite simply it will take considerably more money to pay for such work than previously paid or projected.

Your Board has worked hard, and will continue to do so, to facilitate the dredging process to ensure the long term health of our lake.

HERE IS WHAT WE ARE ASKING OF YOU: Pay your 2024 dues of $70 per developed lot and $14 per undeveloped lot.

–Additionally pay the “special assessment” of $300 per Household to fund our Dredging program.

Your Board currently is forecasting a special assessment of $300 for two years to fund the program. NOTE that the dredging process, “when completed”, is estimated to last 6 plus years so the special assessment is not an ongoing yearly fee.

PLEASE NOTE that the Board recognizes that some neighbors may not be able to pay the special assessment of $300. We would ask that you pay “what you can” so everyone is participating in the process.

Neighbors, let’s rally around our beautiful lake and make this happen. If you have questions please contact a Board Member.
